About Magnus Carlsson

Magnus Carlsson has 30 years of experience working with strategic sourcing, of which 25 in Ikea. He was strategic manager of the supply chain organisation with responsibility for developing and managing the implementation of Ikea’s purchasing strategy. This included, among other things, designing and implementing the category sourcing organisation. He has also been the purchasing manager for several international purchasing offices and was responsible for Ikea’s global textile, metal and veneer furniture sourcing as well as for central sourcing of components and raw materials. He as also led the development of Ikea’s concept for supplier development and for Ikea’s business plan process.

In addition, Magnus Carlsson has ten years experience with pedagogy and education within the Swedish defence forces. He has designed and implemented a large number of sourcing programmes for category and purchasing managers both at Ikea and at other companies. For the last years he has worked for companies in different industries, in particular as strategic sourcing specialist for Kingfisher plc, Europe’s second largest DIY retailer with 1.300 stores in ten countries. Kingfisher is known locally under the B&Q, Screwfix, Castorama, Brico Depot and Koçtaş brands.

About Chan Wang

Can Wang has 25 years of experience in strategic sourcing, of which 24 years were at Ikea. She was the global Category Manager of Lighting in IKEA Supply organization with responsibility for developing and managing the implementation of IKEA’s purchasing strategy, as well as responsible for international purchasing teams located in different countries. When she worked in China, she has also been the Regional Purchasing Manager, Purchasing Office Manager, and Senior Purchaser for various type of products and materials, such as metal, taps, synthetic textile, wood, natural fibre, mirror & glass, frames, clocks, flatline, outdoor furniture, lighting and lighting components, with responsibility for developing regional tactical business plan to implement the global purchasing strategy, and suppliers management and development.

Outside IKEA, she worked in Home Deport 1st oversea sourcing office as Category Manager for both category Plumbing and Kitchen Appliance & Sanitary Ware.

As one of the 1st Chinese employee and leader in IKEA, Can has contributed to the development and growth of IKEA from 5 Billion Euro turnover to 41.9 Billion Euro. She has contributed to and implemented IKEA purchasing strategy, gained rich and practical experience on strategic sourcing, category management, value chain optimization,  supplier development and supplier base optimization; delivered excellent business result to IKEA, the world cost leading company in Home Furnishing.
